Deonat Deodorant Review: Going Back to Basics

Here's a Deonat review for all of you looking to transition to using a natural deodorant.

In the tropics, sweat is one of the most common things to battle. But Filipino millennials know that when it comes to underarm hygiene, for our moms — and grandmas — tawas reigns supreme. I’m sure you had it in crystal or powder form in your bathroom at some point in your life. But because ads got the best of me, I veered away from it and tried popular deodorant brands instead. Which ended up being bad for me in the long run. So I decided to go back to basics and turn to good ol’ tawas. Here’s my Deonat deodorant review.

Going back to what’s natural

I’ll be one of the last people to say that chemicals are bad. Everything is chemical! But when it comes to care for the underarms (my underarms, at least), I’ve found that natural is the best way to go. Deonat Natural Mineral Deodorants, which come in different forms, are made from natural mineral salts that help prevent bacteria that cause body odor.

The Deonat Natural Mineral Deodorant comes in roll-on, stick and spray forms.

Why I made the switch

Truth be told. I decided to try the Deonat Natural Mineral Deodorant Roll-On because the popular deodorant I previously used discolored my underarms. I’ve learned to not dwell on things like that but felt it was the right time to try something new(ish).

What I like about it

Before this Deonat review turns into an essay about self-love and self-image, let me share what I really like about this product. I’ve tried spray deodorants in the past and enjoyed them but found that I’m still a roll-on girl. I feel like you still waste some of the product when it’s in spray form.

For fresh days, I relay on Deonat.

This one’s so straightforward and fuss-free, so there’s no point harping about packaging and all that jazz. Where it matters, though — its ability to keep odor at bay and lessen perspiration — it delivers. Some deodorants really do just mask odor but this one really kicks it away. I chose the one that doesn’t have a fragrance — I’ve seen that there’s one with cucumber, and I might just get that one next.

As far as sweat goes, though, I think it does okay. I used to be really conscious about sweating but since it’s the body’s way of releasing toxins, I’ve learned to be alright with it. So long as it doesn’t smell, I’m good. Plus, it doesn’t stain clothes!

I’ve tried all the types of Deonat deodorants available on the market — this roll-on, the stick, and the spray — and the brand remains my favorite. It’s the only one that truly keeps odor at bay.
