How I Got Healthy Hair Again

After a couple of years of just not minding whether I look like I combed my hair, I’m happy to say that I’m finally in a place where I can actually get away without combing my hair and it looks okay. I used to have really nice hair (just ask my husband!) but somewhere along the way, I decided to stop paying it mind. But now I finally give it a bit more attention and I’m so happy that I have healthy hair again!

My hair has seen better days but I’m glad they’re nowhere near a frizz fest lately, and the products I’ve been using have definitely helped me reach this nice place. I don’t have a healthy hair routine yet and there are still a lot of things I can do better but these products and my sort-of schedule works.

My routine for healthy hair

The first step of my healthy hair routine is to use dry shampoo every other day.

I used to skip good ol’ shampooing for a few days but since the heat is hellish, I find it impossible to be able to last even just a couple of days without traditional cleansing. So now I just alternate dry and wet shampoo days. I’m currently using the Tresemme Instant Refresh Cleansing Dry Shampoo, which was sent to me. True to its name, this dry shampoo cleanses and refreshes my hair and scalp. It smells good, too! I find that in our weather (or maybe just my overly active oil glands on my scalp?) using this for a couple of days is good, but after that you’d need to cleanse in the shower already to get rid of oil.

I used to be quite particular with what shampoo I use, but I haven’t really been as choosy lately. The Sunsilk Smooth and Manageable is good for keeping my hair clean, smooth, and smelling fresh. I haven’t been using conditioner recently as well. The days I don’t shampoo, I think, already make up for whatever results the conditioner could give. I’m not completely shunning it, of course. I just feel like I don’t have the luxury of time recently. If you have recommendations, I’m all ears!

Aside from the pseudo-scientific reason behind my conclusion that I don’t need to condition my hair everyday anymore because of my no-shampoo days, I also make up for it by deep conditioning once a month. I can see that this really makes me look like I have healthy hair! I use the Tresemme Detox & Nourish Mask, which was also sent to me. This gives me the impression of a thicker conditioner and it does make my hair feel smooth and nourished. What I love most about this, though, is the scent. If the scent of this mask (and all the products from this line) also comes in a candle, I’d definitely buy one for my house. It’s relaxing and refreshing at the same time.

So these are the things I’ve been using to have healthy hair again. What’s your haircare routine like?
