I grew up in a very superstitious, very traditional family. Most everyone in our clan have odd beliefs, too, not just in common activities or happenings (like not taking a bath after ironing clothes because your body will have pasma), but also in beauty-related matters.
One of my cousins told me that when I was a baby, some old person from our family cut my eyelashes with the belief that they will grow longer and fuller. Let’s just say I was a victim of false belief. My lashes exist but they would’ve been better if they were left alone, I think. There’s no use crying over spilled milk, or in this case, shortened lashes so instead I sought refuge from cosmetics — mascara to be exact.
I think mascara’s the one makeup item I won’t be able to live without. I used to be faithful to this mascara but decided to try new things and discover whether I’d find something better. The first on my try list was the Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara (in the Volum’ Express variant; P189 only on Lazada).
Packaging, claims

The mascara promises to give “natural-looking curled lashes from day to night.”

Its wand is curved, albeit not very much so, which I deem is the perfect shape for naturally curled lashes. The formula is not watery and coats the lashes perfectly. I’ve never really tried swiping two coats of this, though, so I could not comment whether it clumps or not. What I can attest to is its ability to curl lashes and make them look fluttery for hours.
Application

And these are my lashes with one coat of Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara. It curled my lashes, but not as much as when I used a curler before applying it.
Result
I guess my thoughts on whether this mascara is rad or bad are already obvious. It’s rad! It’s the perfect way to give your lashes some oomph on the daily. I’m still looking for something that would lengthen my lashes a bit more, though, so this isn’t my holy grail but for everyday uses, this is the best.
Have you tried the Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara before? What do you think of it?
