I was super curious when I saw a Pond’s moisturizer in a gel-cream formula. The brand is known for its creams, of course. But it has been releasing more ‘trendy’ products recently, including the Pond’s Watermelon Jelly Moisturizer with Vitamin E.

So I picked one (er, two actually — but more on that later) up and gave it a whirl. Here’s my Pond’s moisturizer review.

Packaging, scent and texture

It comes in a glass jar — yes, glass — with a white lid. Plus point that the jar is transparent; it’s easier this way to know if you’re about to finish the product.

While this Pond’s moisturizer is called ‘Watermelon Jelly’, it doesn’t actually smell like a watermelon. It does have a really sweet scent though. If you’re particular about fragrances, you might not like this one because the scent is pretty heavy. It goes away after a while though.

In terms of texture, it has a baby pink color and a hybrid gel-cream consistency that’s a joy to apply. It’s not too thin that you don’t feel like you put something on. It makes your skin feel amply moisturized but it’s not sticky or heavy. It’s just right.

Application

I’ve been using this for more than a month now. It’s been my moisturizer for daytime and nighttime.

I would scoop out a piso-sized amount using my fingers and spread it gently all over my face until it’s been absorbed. Would’ve loved to have a spatula to use this with but I just make sure my hands are clean before using it.

The first few days took a bit of adjustment scent-wise. The fragrance is a bit too strong.

I was also weary that it will break me out but it didn’t.

It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. It also gives it a subtle glow. My husband also commented that my skin looks better now than before I started using it.

You don’t really need too much from a moisturizer. Get one that moisturizes the skin just right. And, no, one doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

So if you want a budget-friendly, basic moisturizer that works (and if you’re not too particular about strong scents), pick up this Pond’s moisturizer.
