Gone are the days when I would scour the internet for different products to fit the popular Korean 10-step beauty routine. These days, I’m all about streamlining my skincare routine for combination skin. I’m sticking to just three steps right now, though I might insert a vitamin C serum in the future once I find one that I like. You may watch my routine step-by-step above and then read a bit more about it below.
3-step skincare routine for combination skin
I used to have dry patches around my nose but my nose itself would get quite oily. With the help of this routine and these products, however, I’ve found my skin behaving more normally — no oiliness, no dryness.
Step 1: Cleanse
The first and most important step is cleansing. I’ve gone back to using a low pH cleanser (the Celeteque Hydration Facial Wash, in particular). I used to shrug it off and its benefits — basically, since their pH level is closer to that of the skin, they work efficiently and they have little to no chance of irritating the skin. I had the idea that I could just use a pH balancing toner after using a cleanser that’s not low in pH. But what truly was the point of adding another step (aside from feeling good that you have more stuff)?
Step 2: Moisturize
There are people who believe that you don’t need moisturizers. I’m not one of those people. My skin goes haywire when it’s dry and dehydrated; moisturizers help immensely to address these. I like the Celeteque Hydration Moisturizer because it’s lightweight — not sticky at all! — but amply moisturizing.
Step 3: Protect
The last step in my morning skincare routine for combination skin is protection. We’re still quarantined — when will this ever end? — but the house we currently live in has a lot of windows. I sit close to one while working, so I still need to mind my sun protection. I’m currently using the Jeju Aloe Ice Sunscreen, which I’ve yet to have a solid opinion on. I’ll be back with a review on it soon.
