UPDATE (7 June 2021): I recently learned that the Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer has been reformulated, and some people have been noticing a huge difference between the old formula, which I reviewed here, and the new one. I have yet to try the new one, but I will update again once I have.

UPDATE (11 July 2021): I ordered a tube from Watsons on Lazada but was given the old stock. So I’ll be finishing this first and maybe when I get a hold of the new formulation, I can update this again with my thoughts on that. But a bit of good news, yeah? If you’re looking for the original formulation, Watsons on Lazada seems to still have a generous stock; the tube I got has a 2024 expiration date. (Link to buy it at the end of the post!)

I almost panicked when we ran out of moisturizer while in Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). We live outside Metro Manila and though we live in a city, we don’t have access to Watsons (I know!). So our choices were slim, but it’s a good thing the Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer was available. I saw a dermatologist recommend this on Twitter, so it must be good, right? So I tested it to find out because as they say in the Asian Beauty Community, YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Packaging, scent, texture

The Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer looks unassuming but packs a punch.

The Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer comes in a tube that looks almost clinical. I love pretty packaging as much as the next person but it’s just a plus and not something I prioritize, so long as the product works well. (Insert age-old adage about what’s inside that matters.) Speaking of which, this has a gel-like texture that’s just right — I’ve tried ones that are lighter but this is just as comfortable for me to wear. It doesn’t have a scent, which I truly enjoy. (I’ve used products that claim to be unscented but still smell of something — this truly smells like nothing).

This moisturizer has a gel-like texture that refreshes.

Application

I use a one peso-sized amount day and night after my cleanser (or serum). It doesn’t get absorbed as fast as you might expect from a gel (because this is quite thick for a gel) but you’ll feel refreshed while rubbing it on using circular motions. I love that it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling; you just really feel fresh and hydrated — like your skin drank water.

Claims, final thoughts

This moisturizer has become my go-to.

The Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer promises to give your skin triple hydration through Glycerin, Pro-Vitamin B5 and aloe vera. Moisture that’s not just on the surface? After using it for more than a month now (I’ve lost count of what day it is in the ECQ), I can say that it delivers on its promises. My skin feels thoroughly hydrated and plump after using it even hours after application. I find that my nose doesn’t oil up as much anymore either. I enjoy using it and will continue to do so until my tube (the 100ml variant, which retails for P250) is emptied. I’ll repurchase as well. This is now my go-to.
