Our family had a quiet new year celebration. I cooked, we ate, we listened to firecrackers and slept. We did watch a nice Hindi film this morning, though. (It’s called Taare Zameen Par and it’s really nice!) I haven’t thought much about the new year yet or the year that passed. I’m too hormonal to do so, I think. But I guess it would do me well to look back on the nice things that happened in the past year for inspiration. I mentioned in a previous post that this year has been quite challenging, but there were many highs (and I honestly don’t get to acknowledge them. Thanks to my husband for constantly reminding me to stop and smell the roses).
2017 was quite a year. When I think of it as a whole, it seems like a blur. But these are the nice things I can pick from my brain.
I started 2017 with a new job. It’s something that challenges me not only creatively but also personally. Interacting with people is something I’m not very good at, and, to be honest, it’s something I’m having a hard time working on. But I am thankful that I get to experience things I wouldn’t be able to if not for this job. I’m also thankful for all the many things I learn each day.
Our daughter turned 5 last year, and my father was here to celebrate with us. (My father is still an OFW, so it’s rare for him to be present during special occasions.) She’s now in kinder; we’ll have a first-grader this year (and I don’t think I’m ready yet but I’m also excited).
We moved to Lipa and were able to explore some of the many (many) restaurants and cafes here.

Mad Cherry transitioned into a beauty (and sometimes fashion) blog into a more lifestyle-centric one. And I got my husband to write with me.
My sister and I launched our own shoe line! (Here’s why.)
Before the year ended, my husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary together. We stayed at Kapusod and had the time of our lives (doing nothing but eating and swimming and sleeping).
2017 was challenging, but it was quite full. So, hello there, 2018. Here’s to more experiences and time with family and friends, and peace of mind and good health. I hope your 2018 is filled with adventures and joy.
