Ah, love handles. Despite their name, they’re parts of the body that many people dislike and want to get rid of. Chances are, you’re one of them and it’s why you’re here. While I don’t want to demonize any part of my body, I admittedly want to banish love handles with the help of workouts too — but not just for vanity reasons.
Did you know that having a concentration of fat in your belly can lead to fewer years? Not trying to scare you, but it’s true. A research found that even if you’re not overweight if you have “concentrated central fat”, “you are more than 50% likely to die earlier from all causes than those who are obese?” according to Time (via CNN Health).
Now, of course, it goes without saying that I want to live a long and fruitful life. That’s one of the main reasons why I’m working out five times a week and trying to get rid of these stubborn love handles. If you’re in the same boat, I want to tell you first that we can do this! And here are some of the workouts that can help us.
Emi Wong workout: 15 minutes side abs and love handles
I have a love-hate relationship with Emi Wong’s workouts because they’re pretty hard to do. She’s not kidding when she says “no pain, no gain” though. Her routines are the hardest I’ve tried but they’re the ones that gave me results in as little as two months. I’m hoping her love handle workout can help me improve my mid-section.
MadFit’s 10-minute oblique burn workout
Maddie’s is one of the fitness YouTube channels you should subscribe to this year. Her workouts, I feel, are not as intense as Emi’s but they’re just as good. I also always get so inspired when I see how toned she is. That’s my body goal! So I’m hoping her oblique exercises can give me even just a little bit of those toned abs.
Chloe Ting’s 10-minute abs & obliques routine
Chloe Ting is quite polarizing, but I think fitness, like many other things in life, is a case-to-case basis. Some workouts may be great for you while others may be not. If you happen to see the results you want to see through Chloe’s workouts, then by all means follow her. If not, then just don’t! This love handle workout looks intense and I’m not sure if it’ll be my cup of tea, but I won’t really know unless I try. (The same goes for you. 🙂
MrandMrsMuscle’s Lower Abs and Obliques Focus workout
A recent discovery, MrandMrsMuscle offer a variety of workouts. What I love about their videos is their straightforwardness. While I’m okay with getting to know a bit about the YouTuber whose video I’m following, I also appreciate those who just go ahead with the routines — no fuss, no long intros, just working out. I’ve tried MrandMrsMuscle’s upper body exercise and quite liked it, so I’m excited to see if I’ll like this one for the lower abs too.
Love Handles & Belly Fat Workout by Koboko Fitness
One thing I wish more fitness YouTubers would do is incorporate warmups and cool downs in all of their videos. I know, and I understand that you can get more money if you make separate monetized videos for these. But the convenience of playing the video and not needing to change tabs when you’re hot and sweaty and gasping for air? That’s incredible. That’s one of the reasons why I like Koboko Fitness. Many (though not all) of her videos are like that. I’ve tried her leg videos in the past, and I’m stoked to try this workout too.
