Easy DIY Cocktail With Soju and Yakult

soju yakult recipe

Do Soju and Yakult go well together? Well, we’ve been bitten by the K-bug, as I’m sure you have been too. Ever since we tried Korean food — in the form of the now-everywhere Korean BBQ — we’ve been hooked. So, of course, we couldn’t pass on the chance to try Korean soju.

And since we’ve been hearing a lot about the Soju and Yakult combo and how easy it is to make a cocktail with just those two drinks, we had to take a stab at it.

What mixes well with Soju?

Korean Soju seems to be quite a popular choice for mixing with a variety of ingredients to make cocktails. Aside from the one we tried, there’s also a drink where you mix this Korean beverage with Melona, which, if you’re not familiar with, is a Korean ice cream. Some people also apparently mix it with beer!

After discovering that there’s Soju at the convenience store near our house and finding out that the brand’s drink selection also has strawberry and grapefruit flavors, though, we knew we had to drink soju partnered with a yogurt drink. We imagined that the fruit flavors would pair well with yogurt (the same way real fruits do). Were we right?

Here’s how we made our DIY cocktail and what we think of the drink!

Here are the ingredients you need for the Soju and Yakult recipe.

For this recipe, we used the JINRO Strawberry Soju and, of course, Yakult. If you’re a light drinker, here are our advised proportions:

  • 1 part Soju
  • 2 parts Yakult
  • Ice

A measuring cup will come in handy for this if you want exact measurements but you may also opt to use any type of cup at your disposal. Say, you have a favorite coffee cup that’s a tad small, you may use that as a tool. Example: you may mix half a cup of Soju and a cup of Yakult.

If you want more kick, though — which, to be honest, Soju gives quite a lot — you may opt for an equal proportion of ingredients. Meaning, you’ll have 1 part Soju and 1 part Yakult. (That’s 1 cup of each.)

Finish it off with ice, stir, and enjoy!
