Mad Curious: ChatGPT Makes the Brain Lazy, Lea Salonga’s Star, and More

mad curious about chatgpt

Ah, the weekend. Ready to wind down after a busy week? Same! But I’m also eager to catch up on what everyone’s been talking about. A few cool things I found:

Yup, ChatGPT’s making you slow

If you’ve been relying on ChatGPT for just about anything and everything in your life, you may want to stop — abruptly or slowly, totally up to you. But the goal is to quit because whether you admit it or not, ChatGPT is making you slow, as in it’s making your brain lazy. And I’m not saying this just because I don’t like that thing, a study has proven it.

Semi-related: Have you heard about the guy who proposed to an AI chatbot? Bonkers! (Read more about it here if you’re curious.)

Lea Salonga to get a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

I’m always conflicted about supporting Lea Salonga (IYKYK), but there’s no denying that she’s a worldwide star. Hollywood is making it official too. The Broadway star, and voice of your favorite Disney princesses (well, mine), will be given a star Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Alex Eala wears sampaguita hair tie at Wimbledon match

First of all, a Filipina at Wimbledon! The budding tennis star wore a sampaguita hair tie, courtesy of Nike, during her match. She shared the package it came in and how happy she was to pay homage to her heritage during the game. I love it! Except for what was written on the Nike box, which says “Kung may tinanim, may aanihin.” As a Tagalog, I can’t accept that. Nike’s a multi-national company. It would’ve been easy to look for someone to check that for them.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is coming

It’s official: The sequel to the cult-favorite (dare I say classic now?) is in production. The original is one of my comfort films, so I’m thrilled that it will be getting a part two. The fact that they’re mirroring today’s publishing climate is exciting. And Emily having power over Miranda? I’ll be girding my loins till the movie plays in cinemas on May 1, 2026.

Fairmont opens in Tokyo

Planning a trip to Japan and want to get a little bit bougie? Book your stay at the newly opened Fairmont in Tokyo. It’s only 13 minutes away from Haneda airport. On top of stellar accommodation, the hotel promises an exquisite dining experience that reflects the city’s vibrance at Kiln & Tonic.

Which one are you most curious (or furious) about?
