Cook Quickly and Easily With the Help of This Nifty Kitchen Appliance

The air fryer wave is still gigantic. Is it finally catching up to you?

We got one perhaps a year after the hype for it reached its peak (during the lockdowns). My father gave us their old one because they were upgrading, and we’ve been using it ever since! We love that we don’t need to use a lot of oil anymore to enjoy ‘fried’ food. We can bake some treats using it too.

How do I choose a good air fryer?

Okay, so we didn’t really get to choose our air fryer. (It’s the Philips 4L one, by the way.) But if I were to change to a different unit now, I’ll definitely look for three things: brand reliability, capacity and more functions.

I know a lot of brands have popped up with their own take on this appliance. And they’re definitely tempting to own because of the affordability — some go for as low as P1,500. But we’ve always been prudent about purchasing things for the home. We’ll always go for the more reliable brand, even if it means shelling out a little bit more. A brand that has repair centers or physical stores is also a plus of us.

Now, when it comes to functions, I’d love to have a unit that I can accurately use. Ours have a knob, which is completely fine, but setting the time and heat digitally would be even better!

What is the best air fryer size to buy?

This will be based on need and preference, I believe. For instance, we have a 4L one that works quite well for us because there are just three people in our household (and one of us is a kid). If you have a bigger family, then you may need something bigger, of course. While a small air fryer like ours would work just as well, using one may require you to cook in batches. It’s not too cumbersome but may be a bit of a hassle if you’re relying on an air fryer’s convenience.
